Today, 29.1.20, we received notification that we had been successful in our application for funding to help pay for the supply and installation of an All Weather pitch at the Northern Meeting Park.
Over the years, it’s fair to say, that there have been tensions between the Highland Council and NCCC over our use of the park conflicting with what the council wanted to use it for. We are very keen to have the gates of the park open more often and for it to be used more widely by its local community. To that end we have been supporting the work of The Northern Meeting Park Group.
So, having this new facility will alleviate the pressure to protect the whole “square” and allow freer access over the whole grass area. As well as this, it’s a step that will allow us to expand our work in schools and within our community, we’ll also be able to play more games as the surface will be more tolerant of the “Highland Summers” and a flatter track will be safer and more consistent for younger players.
Win : Win – as they say!
We now have to find the rest of the money (about £4,500) and get permissions sorted. We will be applying to the Highland Council “Common Good Fund” for this and hope that they will support us.
We will keep you posted
